About

The understudy.

The person waiting in the wings who turns out to be better than the lead.

How this started

Nicholas runs businesses in Sydney: a specialist furniture retailer and a commercial fit-out supplier. Both needed websites. Both went to agencies. Both got the same thing: a long timeline, a large invoice, and a site that looked like everyone else's.

So he built the next ones himself. They loaded faster, read better, and started ranking for the things customers actually search. Then other business owners started asking who'd done them.

Nobody asked him to become a web designer. Nobody gave him permission. He just did it, and it turned out the view from the client's side of the table is the most useful thing a web studio can have.

Why "Saint Nobody"

Saint is reverence. Nobody is the ordinary person who was never supposed to be the expert. Put them together and you get the patron saint of the self-taught: everyone who has ever looked at a quote and thought, I could do this better myself.

The mark is a stage curtain drawn back, with the light behind it. The understudy, about to go on.

What that means for you

  • We've paid for websites. We know what the invoice feels like and what it should buy.
  • We've run the businesses the sites are for. We know what a lead is worth and what a slow page costs.
  • We're small on purpose. You talk to the person doing the work.
